October 2020 Newsletter! 🎃
¡Hola! Welcome to my newsletter! I'm Carlos Jarquin, a 16-year old researching for better materials and propulsion to explore the cosmos. This year, I'm an Innovator at The Knowledge Society, where I get to meet the coolest kids in the world (literally... they're from all over the world!) and work on amazing projects that have the potential to change the world.
So, what have I been up to? 💭
TEDx TALK! 🦄
My first TEDx Talk was a blast! I had the opportunity to collaborate with so many people and explore the stories and values of each speaker! Shoutout to all the speakers and the directors for this amazing opportunity! Check out my TEDx Talk here.
DETRIUS! 🍼
A startup company is born! I had the opportunity to join a developing startup company with some friends from TKS. And behold, Detrius rose from the ashes. Our plan at Detrius is to eliminate floating plastics from the ocean and remaking the plastics into toys that can be donated to impoverished children, one bottle at a time.
FOCUS ON THAT SHOOTING STAR! 🌠
After exploring on my own in TKS, it’s time to make a decision on what emerging technology I want to focus on. Being the space geek that I am, that decision was a no-brainer. I have officially started my Space Tech Focus on Material Science for Rockets and Interplanetary Habitation! Be on the lookout for that shooting star! 😉
What’s next, Carlos? 🎩
Space Tech Articles ✍🏽
Keep your eyes peeled for those extraordinary articles about material science and propulsion coming out! You’ll beg for more!
Prepare Launch for Detrius! 🚀
My team is so ready to get to work hard and get Detrius up and running. Sooner or later, you won’t see a plastic the next time you take a trip to the beach!
Calculus ➕ Code!
My goal is to learn and master Calculus by the end of this year! At the same time, I plan to learn and master Python for my future projects with Space Technology! Here we go!
Gratitude Shoutout! 👏🏽
Thank You to...
All the TKS Directors ❤️
Our TKS Directors work so hard to make an impact in our lives and in the world. The TKS kids and I can’t express how much gratitude we have towards them. From planning the Global AI Hackathon to the Global Sessions, they work their butts off for us. Specifically Michael Raspuzzi and Amna Hyder, my Virtual Directors, who make every session the best every week!
TEDx Directors ✨
Our TEDx Directors worked so hard to prepare this special and impactful event for kids across the world. You have left me inspired and motivated to work harder and to believe in myself and my vision of making an impact in the world! Good luck wherever you go!
October felt like entering a rocket that is going to launch to greatness! I'm so excited to see what November has in store for me because I know for a fact, the rocket can only go up! ¡Hasta luego, terrícolas! 🌌
